
AFRICANS RISING TOGETHER 2063 HOSTS ITS FIFTH JUNETEENTH CARIBBEAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL IN UNIVERSITY CITY
WHAT:
Please join Africans Rising Together 2063 for the fifth annual Juneteenth Caribbean Heritage Festival: Keeping Our History Alive. The Juneteenth Caribbean Heritage Festival is a full-day, free family-friendly event offering educational information, networking opportunities, and various fun activities for all throughout the day, including:
- Keynote Address from Dr. Reynaldo Anderson, Professor of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University
- Juneteenth Mobile Museum – telling the untold stories about how Juneteenth became a national holiday
Missouri History Museum Exhibit – featuring information about the Civil Rights Movement, curated by the Missouri History Museum - Walk Through History – exploring the lives and legacies of leaders who shaped the experiences of African Americans and African Caribbeans in the Americas and the world.

- Awards Ceremony
- Children’s Village, featuring face painting, a bouncy house, games, and activities.

Dr. Reynaldo Anderson, Professor of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University, will provide the keynote address. He is also a co-founder of ART 2063, an international non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about the historical significance, experience, culture, and contributions of African Americans,
people of African Descent, and Africans on the Continent to the world.

About Dr. Reynaldo Anderson
Dr. Reynaldo Anderson serves as an Associate Professor of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Anderson is also the Executive Director and co-founder of the Black Speculative Arts Movement (BSAM), an international network of artists,
intellectuals, creatives, and activists. He is the co-editor of numerous anthologies and journals, including Afrofuturism 2.0: The Rise of Astro-Blackness and The Black Speculative Arts Movement:
Black Futurity, Art+Design (Lexington Books, 2015, 2019), Cosmic Underground: A Grimoire of Black Speculative Discontent (Cedar Grove Publishing, 2018), Black Lives, Black Politics, Black Futures, a special issue of TOPIA: Canadian Journal of Cultural Studies (2018), and When is Wakanda:
Afrofuturism and Dark Speculative Futurity (The Journal of Futures Studies, 2019). Reynaldo served as a member of the curatorial council for Carnegie Hall’s Afrofuturism festival in 2022. He was recognized by the National Council of Black Studies with the 2025 Fanny Lou Hamer/ Kwame
Nkrumah award for Academic Leadership and Service in the African world and is the author of the forthcoming book Afrofuturism and World Order with the Ohio State University Press.
