Dr. Rodney H. Orr graduated with a BS degree from Purdue University in 1977.
He served in the United States Air Force as a management engineer for 5 years before he joined Cru staff for the next 30 years. While on staff with Cru he earned a ThM degree at Dallas Theological Seminary and moved to Nairobi, Kenya to teach in a seminary there for 3 years.
In 1998 he received his PhD in Missions History from the University of Edinburgh, UK. He spent 11 years in Zimbabwe as Executive Director of the Africa Leadership and Management Academy. He has an honorary doctorate from Carver College in Atlanta, Georgia.
He is a professor of Missiology Intercultural Ministries at Dallas Theological Seminary where he currently serves as Dean of the Washington DC campus.
He is married to Enid Walker Orr and they have 7 children, 4 in-laws, and 5 grandchildren.
His passions are “building people by opening their eyes to the truth,” teaching, hiking, reading, and traveling.
